H.E. Kuckein was born and raised near the Baltic city of Keonigsberg. He moved to Vancouver,

Canada in the early 1950s where he completed his architectural training. He has written many

books and articles on architecture. His experience with design is evident in his paintings,

which often combines contempory structure with soft brush strokes and colour.

The density of Kuckein's paintings is attributabe to the build up of many layers of paint, giving

his work an unusual depth and presence. He signs with works with a wax impression of the

Kuckein ancestral crest dating from the 1300s. His works are included in private and corporate

collections in the United States, Canada, Japan, Germany, Switzerland, England and Russia.

Kuckein lives in Kelowna, B.C.
