Bob Kebic was born in Hamilton, Ontario in 1951. From a very early age, his passion was drawing and painting. He graduated from the Ontario College of Art in 1974. While attending OCA, he was awarded the the Dorothy Stevens Award for outstanding drawing and painting. Upon graduation he spent several years doing editorial and book covers for such noted publications as McClelland and Stewart, General Publishing, Saturday Night Magazine as well as others.
The early 80s were spent mentoring under Canadian artist William Biddle, working in all the mediums: oils, acrylics, inks, casein and others.
Bob then added the advertising industry in his field of expertise as well, doing commissions for such companies as Nike, Coke, Audi, the Canadian Mint to name just a small few, as well as storyboarding commercials.
You will find that most of Kebic's paintings have numbers and not names. He states he is an artist and not a writer. Everyone will see something of their own life experience in what he does on canvas. For him to title them would force a bias on your observations. He does not want you to look for the title in the paintings--he wants you to see that sunset you remember, that view from the water's edge one summer evening or those brilliant fall colors that amazed you as a child.
Bob Kebic has lived in Texas, Chicago and currently resides in Toronto with his wife and two cats.
Statement
“My passion is drawing and painting. My medium of choice is oil. Oil puts at my disposal the greatest range of colors and textures possible. My paintings are a compilation of everything I’ve ever learned. From the crayons and coloring books at age 1, to every canvas I have ever thrown in the trash bin, my works represent a lifetime of learning ….Enjoy.
