As an emerging BC artist, Jessica Hedrick has shown a strong understanding of art. Her talents thrived growing up under the mentorship of her father, Ron Hedrick, a prominent Canadian artist.
Jessica's first workshop was with Gordon Applebee Smith, a notable Canadian artist, in which he strongly urged her to take art very seriously though her school years. Several years later she studied art at the University College of the Fraser Valley under Bruce Paschak who taught her to enjoy the creative process and to expand her concepts of art. After college she enjoyed a trip to Italy and France studying magnificent historical pieces--it was then she realized art was her true calling. When she returned from Europe Jessica joined a collection of artists, the Stave Falls Artist Group, in the outskirts of Mission, BC. She has studied under master Canadian Portrait Painter, Paul Chizik and renowned American Impressionist Carolyn Anderson. Through a string of recent successes Jessica has decided to pursue working full-time as an artist. The main influences in Jessica's work have been Impressionists from around the world. She has a strong passion to work from life, whether it be still-lifes, models or landscapes. Her style incorporates a sincerity of light and colour with loose brushwork, while trying to explain to the viewer what exactly she was inspired by in the subject.

The artistic journey of Christine Houghton began as a Stained Glass Artist in the '70's. She loved the challenge of working with glass and fell in love with colour and the design process. This led to painting on silk with French dyes and it was the vibrant bright colours that fascinated her. A move to Texas- Dallas/Fortworth- led to painting with watercolours and teaching art. She studied with many artists and also at Louisiana Tech University in Ruston. She has signature member status with SWA in Texas. A move to Vancouver Island in 2003 led to painting a coastal series. She is influenced by living on the Straight of Georgia and is inspired by the seasons - from sunrise to sunset. She is a colourist and loves the process of painting.

Lynn Huntley was born and educated in Toronto and is a self-trained photographer. In pursuit of experience, Lynn worked as a photographic assistant in Toronto and Europe. In the spring of 1982 , Lynn travelled to Kathmandu, Nepal and trekked through the Everest Region as part of a film crew documenting the pre-monsoon preparatory stages of the first Canadian climb of Mount Everest. Her landscapes are based on an impressionist approach. They are filled with air and light. In keeping a relatively tight palette it simplifies the composition. There is often a strong emphasis on the horizon line offering space for the viewer’s imagination. Her works serve as a source of tranquility to ponder the beauty of nature. Lynn Huntley has participated in over 40 solo and group shows in Canada, Italy, Japan, Poland, the Netherlands and the United States.

Peter Shostak was born in 1943 and raised on a farm in northeastern Alberta. His love of the Alberta
prairies is reflected in his art. Becoming an artist didn’t enter his plans until university. He left the farm to attend the University of Alberta, majoring in Art Education. Peter then taught junior high school and evening adult art classes and returned to university in 1968 to secure his Graduate Degree in Art Education. He then assumed the position of Assistant Professor of Art Education at the University of Victoria, resigning in 1979 to pursue his own art career.
The status of Honourary Alberta Artist was presented to Peter by the Government of Alberta in 1983 in recognition of his achievements in the arts. The Alberta Council for the Ukrainian Arts is a province-wide non-profit organization dedicated to the celebration and propagation of art in all genres. In 1990 Peter was the recipient of their first annual award for “artistic excellence in the field of visual arts”. To commemorate the centenary of the first Ukrainian pioneers arriving in Canada, Peter devoted 4 ½ years of painting to visually depict their experiences. The 50 large oil paintings toured Western Canada in 1992 and were the feature exhibition at the Pacific National Exhibition in Vancouver. In December 2003 Peter Shostak was awarded the Queen’s Golden Jubilee Medal in recognition of his significant contribution to Canada.

Taisia Paczkowski was born in Russia. She was influenced by Oriental art and attended the Art College in England. She later expressed herself in developing her own distinct technique in watercolor and mixed media. Her paintings are poetic and sensitive without being sentimental. Light and dark backgrounds provide strong atmosphere and mood.
Taisia is known for her vibrant paintings of weeds, wild flowers and for simple and often forsaken elements of nature. Her technique draws on the excitement and unpredictability of water. “Painting for me is a very personal and often quite lonely experience” Taisia says. “It is an emotional, intuitive process that at times can be disappointing, frustrating and agonizing or it can be exciting, joyful and most satisfying”.
Taisia’s paintings have been exhibited in private and public galleries throughout North America including the Museum of Natural Science in Ottawa. She has received a number of awards for her work and has been recognized for her skill and craftsmanship in “Who’s Who” in Canada and in various magazines and publications. The article “Art Treasures of the Woods” (May 1979) in the Canadian and Hong Kong editions of Reader’s Digest illustrate her art and her concern about endangered species of wild flowers. In the article’s own words she paints to express her admiration of nature’s little things like “raindrops on a birch branch, the first dandelion, the magic of an open milkweed or the white wonder of a trillium”.
Taisia lives and works in Thornhill, Ontario and exhibits her work in a number of Canadian galleries
