Yvonne Reddick

First Fruits displays what are in essence the first fruits of Yvonne Reddick’s labour as a painter. This exhibition of fruit and vegetable still-life oil paintings is her first public exhibition. A studious and meticulous painter, Reddick only recently began her art practice. Inspired by European Old Master painters, such as Caravaggio, Rubens, Rembrandt and Vermeer, she slowly builds her oil paintings. Her small-scale works are made of many layers of paint. Consequently, they seem to glow with light and achieve depth and intensity of saturated colour. With great skill, she renders her still lifes into delectable sensuous visions. Reddick’s first series of paintings is a sure sign of more promising fruit to come.
