"Painting is a great outlet for me," says Barry Rafuse about his art. He specializes in mixed media with a loose and aggressive style that is bold and which produces motion in his work.

Barry likes to combine materials because there is the added challenge of mastering medias, such as oil sticks, oil pastel crayons and acrylic paint. He has always been attracted to nature's designs and landforms, moving towards abstraction of these elements.

Since 1990 Barry Rafuse has been in numerous juried shows and has had many solo shows around B.C. He has received many awards, and his works are also found in many private and public collections in Canada and abroad.

Barry Rafuse was born in 1940, in New Westminster, B.C. He is retired from a government administrative career and currently resides in Vernon, B.C.
